Trauma centre to be built on Charki Road | The Express Tribune

A state-of-the-art trauma center will be built on Charki Road, Rawalpindi where citizens will have free treatment facilities.

An emergency center and a modern dialysis facility will also be available at the facility. The project is expected to cost around 1.55 billion rupees and will be completed within a year and a half.

Sources said that a local senior named Chaudhry Allah Daad donated 60 Kanals of land to the government for the construction of the center. The establishment of an emergency center would facilitate the public in case of accidents on the highway and GT road. Immediate medical assistance would be available nearby, helping to save many lives.

PC1 of this project is almost ready and is expected to start next month, the sources said, adding that it will provide maternal and child treatment as well as availability of labor rooms. It will include five operating rooms, a modern laboratory, an x-ray and scanning facility as well as a dental unit. In addition, an entire floor will be dedicated to dialysis centers in which at least 20 dialyses can be performed at a time.

BHU Upgrade

Meanwhile, 15% of the works to upgrade the Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Kauntrila, Tehsil Gujjar Khan, into a Rural Health Center (RHC) have been completed.

The district health authority’s finance and planning coordinator, Muhammad Zohaib, said the divisional development task force approved the project upgrade in April 2022, which would be completed in 18 months at a cost of about 149 million rupees.

Zohaib said around Rs 35 million had been spent so far on the construction of the 20-bed health facility, while the remaining works would hopefully be completed by September 2023. He added as the provision of adequate health services, in particular for maternal and child health care. rural dwellers, was the top priority of the Punjab government.
