Instagram to begin testing new repost feature | The Express Tribune

Instagram is preparing to offer users a “repost” feature on the platform and will start testing it with some users.

Although not officially announced, the Meta-owned company confirmed the news with TechCrunch. The feature was first spotted by social media consultant Matt Navarra who posted a screenshot featuring the Repost tab, appearing right next to posts, reels and tagged photo tabs.

App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi also spotted the feature in development in May.

In an email, the Meta spokesperson said: “We are exploring the possibility of sharing posts in Feed – in the same way that you can share in Stories – so that people can share what is relevant to them, and that the original creators are credited for their work. “

Currently, there is no direct way for users to share other people’s Instagram posts to their own profiles, except through third-party apps. The upcoming feature will allow users to share posts to their feed instead of stories.
