DUBAI: As Pakistan cricket fans prepare for tomorrow’s T20 Asia Cup 2022 final against Sri Lanka, all-rounder Shadab Khan says the Pakistani side are aiming to win the tournament – which is a raise curtain for next month’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
In his column published on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) website, the vice-captain said the Pakistani team wanted to bring smiles back to those affected by the floods ahead of their important final clash against Sri Lanka in the T20 Asia . Cup 2022.
“Since we are far from our beloved homeland, watching the devastating calamity from afar makes it even more painful for us,” he said, adding that the team led by Babar Azam would like to win this tournament to bring back bright smiles on the faces of those affected by the flood.
He added: “We are a great team, but to become a champion we have to win this tournament and other top series.
“I’ve said before that champion teams handle pressure well and win in clutch moments, and that’s what we’ll be aiming for in Sunday’s final. To win against Sri Lanka and win the title of the Asian Cup is the real deal for us,” he said on the eve of the long-awaited final.
The 23-year-old has praised skipper Babar Azam, saying he has instilled a ‘never give up’ attitude in the team.
“Babar taught us a lot, and apart from the great team culture he developed, I think the best facet of his leadership is the fact that he instilled in us the attitude of never giving up. we find ourselves in desperate situations, we are fully charged to fight until the last ball,” he added.
Pakistan are due to face Sri Lanka in the Asian Cup grand final at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
