Options for ‘in-house change in Punjab’ under consideration | The Express Tribune

ISLAMABAD:

Special assistant to Prime Minister Attaullah Tarar on Saturday dismissed rumors of imposing a government on Punjab, saying other constitutional options were being considered for internal change in the province.

Tarar fired a broadside at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for holding public meetings in Punjab as well as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and spending around 250-300 million rupees on each rally, pointing out that the amount should have be used to help the flood -affected people.

“The current coalition government believes in serving the people affected by the floods first and not playing politics for personal gain,” Tarar told a news conference here.

“It is unfortunate that one party (PTI) is busy playing politics in these difficult times instead of making concerted efforts to reduce the suffering of the flood-affected people in the country.”

Tarar said that in these difficult times when the people of Punjab have been badly affected by the floods, the provincial government has moved a total of Rs 400 million to purchase new vehicles for ministers and councillors.

He said it was regrettable that PTI leaders in Punjab, KP, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu-Kashmir had failed miserably to heal the wounds of those affected by the floods.

He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had visited the flood-affected parts of the country and met with affected families in KP, Punjab Balochistan and Sindh.

SAPM said Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and his son were acting as facilitators for Imran Khan to hold political rallies in the province.

“Pervaiz Elahi did not visit the flood-affected areas,” he said, adding that flood-affected areas in Punjab were facing shortage of medicine, food and other necessary items.

Tarar said PTI leaders were using Punjab as a platform to promote their anti-state narrative.

He alleged that Farah Gogi received an “NRO” from the Punjab government in all corruption cases.

He questioned why two anti-corruption chief executives were changed in a short time, saying, “They were changed just to give NRO to Farah Gogi.”

He said that Farah Gogi had committed all the corruption as per the instructions of Imran Khan’s family.

He alleged that Farah Gogi was facilitated by the PTI leadership to fly outside the country.

He said Elahi had distributed about 832 jobs among his favorites. application
