LI students attend UBS Arena financial literacy event | Long Island Business News

More than 400 students and faculty from area high schools attended a financial literacy and college prep day at the UBS Arena in Elmont last week. 

The event was hosted by UBS and its partners Barron’s and EVERFI. 

The students, from the Sewanhaka Central High School District, were introduced to UBS financial literacy resources, along with advice from Barron’s and EVERFI, including exposure to a college prep curriculum. 

New York Islanders’ in-game host Maria Clifton, who goes by DJ Ria, emceed the event and was joined by members of the Islanders hype team, who engaged with students throughout the day. 

Also participating at the event, which was designed as a networking and mentoring opportunity for the students, was Jazz Skair, a UBS branch manager; Weisner Perez, UBS assistant market head; Lauren Bernstein, executive vice president of account management at EVERFI; Peter Piccomini, a Dow Jones account manager for business development; and Joe Laurenzano, Barron’s account manager for Investing in Education.
